Well, perhaps you would like to surprise her with a thoughtful present, to congratulate her on her new arrival and make her feel loved.

Not to worry, we have got you covered. We will share the best letterbox gifts for you to spoil that mummy and show her how much you care.

What is a letterbox gift?

A letterbox gift is a hand-picked present sent directly to the receiver’s front door. A cute, quirky, unique gift idea, they are usually super affordable because the package has to fit through the receiver’s letterbox!

Letterbox gifts are fantastic for people who don’t have the time or means to deliver a present first-hand to a new mum.

Here at Mama Jewels, we understand that pregnancy, birth, postpartum blues, and settling into life with a newborn baby can be a stressful time.

That is why we created our own line of letterbox gifts, which will make a new mum feel pampered in the comfort of her own home. These care packages are designed to help the new mum recreate a spa session and enjoy the bliss and comfort that our relaxation goodies offer.

Starting from as low as £9.95, our letterbox gifts are an amazing way to show your appreciation for the new mum, without breaking the bank.

No need to rush around to buy a gift box, lots of individual items, wrapping paper and a personalised card- we do all of that for you, at an incredible price!

How can I support a new mum?

The new mum in your life will massively appreciate it if you find ways to make her feel special.

She will be feeling fatigued and sleep-deprived whilst also may be navigating postpartum blues as she adjusts to life with a newborn baby.

There may not even be time for her to sit down for ten minutes with a cup of tea, because there is a crying baby who needs feeding or changing.

So, every little act of kindness helps.

Help with the new baby

It takes a village to raise a child. So, get involved in feeding, changing, and baby duties- the burden shouldn’t just fall on the new mum (or the new parents) alone.

Even holding the baby (so the new mum doesn’t have to) is going to be a huge help, because her body will be sore from birth and breastfeeding.

Surprise her with a thoughtful gift

We all need a reminder that we matter, and new mums are no exception to this.

At Mama Jewels, we sell an assortment of the best letterbox gifts and beautiful gift hampers, which make the perfect push present, to celebrate the new mum’s wonderful new chapter.

Our pamper hampers and spa wellness boxes will create a peaceful environment for the tired postpartum mum and encourage self-love.

While our mum & baby gift boxes contain a variety of treats to help the new mum and her little angel.

Alternatively, you can create your own bespoke gift hamper and personalise it, especially for the mum or mummy-to-be.

Check-in with her regularly

Ask her how she is feeling and what she needs. She may be overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed.

Communication is important, so you can stay on the same page and find healthy ways to deal with issues if they arise.

Offer a listening ear

Sometimes, she just needs to vent. So, be patient, listen to her and hold back on offering unsolicited advice.

Try not to criticise her, make her feel guilty, or patronise her. She is doing her best, and that is good enough!

Don’t pretend things are perfect

Motherhood is a learning curve. It’s messy, stressful, draining, frustrating, unpredictable, and a rollercoaster of emotions. No two experiences are the same, and there is no such thing as perfection.

So, things will go wrong. Try not to push the new mum to be ‘perfect’, and help her understand that she shouldn’t put this pressure on herself, either.

Encourage her to sleep when the baby sleeps

Make sure she has a quiet, dark room, where she can catch up on sleep.

Keep the doors and curtains closed and minimise noise, interruptions and distractions.

If she prefers, you can light a candle or play some relaxing music or meditation for her.

Volunteer to help with household chores

Offer to cook healthy meals, clean, do laundry, or run errands, to rid these chores from the new mum’s to-do list.

Babysit older children

The new mum is going to have her hands full with a newborn, so a little break from taking care of older children will be so welcome.

Take the older ones out on a trip, or arrange a playdate or sleepover. Those kids will be grateful to be away from a screaming baby!

Help with the family pet

While a new mum is exhausted and preoccupied with taking care of her newborn baby, the last thing she may want to do is walk the dog, empty the cat’s litter box, or clean the hamster’s cage.

So, take on the pet responsibilities and give the new mum as much free time as possible, so she can rest, recover and enjoy her bundle of joy.

Take pictures and videos

One thing that many new mums regret is not taking enough pictures and videos of themselves with their new baby. So, take out your camera and grab a few family photos, so you can look back on them in years to come.

However, be sensitive to the new mum’s feelings: she may be feeling irritable or self-conscious about her body.

Manage visitors

Everyone loves cooing over a brand-new, cute baby.

While new mums do appreciate having loved ones over (especially when they bring presents!), it can get overwhelming.

So, the new mum will thank you if you take charge when it comes to visitors, to ensure that both mum and the baby feel safe and comfortable.

It is perfectly acceptable to turn away visitors who are unwell or not up to date with immunisations. The baby’s immune system is still developing, so it can’t handle germs yet- in fact, a newborn’s immune system isn’t considered to have adequate function until 2 months old.

When visitors arrive, ask them to sanitise their hands before they meet the baby. You can also ask them not to kiss the baby, as this can spread infection.

Always make sure the new mum prioritises herself and her baby- she doesn’t need to sacrifice her own comfort to cater to guests.
