MJ Artisan Gift Box co. JOY Journal May 2023

Some of you might have noticed that there wasn’t a JOY journal last month (or you may not lol)  I will unapologetically admit that there just wasn’t enough time in April, as hubby and I left the kids in safe hands of the grandparents and headed off for a wonderful week in New York, New York! 🍎🗽

We had the most incredible time taking in the culture of the Harlem jazz scene and soaking up the sights in Manhattan. Jetlagged, we returned, but full of inspiration and raring to develop new ideas for MJ. Here are a few photos from our trip:

HYPE YOURSELF by Lucy Werner – For you fellow small business owners out there is a fully comprehensive guide on how to do your own PR.

THE ART OF SHOUTING QUIETLY by Pete Mosely – I discovered this book at a recent creative business retreat run by the fantastic Platform thirty1 – Aimed at business promotion but is great for everyone, with great ideas for being heard if you’re an introvert like me.

CREATIVITY: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DISCOVERY AND INVENTION – Karen’s recommendation for the month, It delves into the cognitive and psychological aspects of generating innovative ideas, problem-solving, and breaking away from conventional patterns of thought.

FIREFLY LANE – NETFLIX – Series 2, for lovers of the book, you won’t be disappointed.

WELLMANIA – NETFLIX – Liv, self-confessed party animal and global journalist makes a rather rash lifestyle change after a health scare. Very funny!

With the annual holiday budget spent for the year, we’ve been staying close to home and visiting our beautiful Derbyshire dales and Peak District. Matlock is a 25-minute drive from us, a historic market town with lots of industrial heritage, the home of John Smedley, and beautiful walks, parks, and sights to enjoy for free, it’s one of our favourite places.

Karen and I have been working hard on our gardens, and my aim for a Bee friendly pollinator garden is coming to fruition. Now full of Lavender, Alliums, Borage, Rosemary, Hyacinths, Crocosmia, and Daisies, we have very happy bees and a planet being pollinated by our efforts.

We’d like to personally congratulate our lovely customers Jack Whitehall and Roxy Horner who recently announced their pregnancy on Instagram. We are so excited for you and wish you well with your pregnancy journey. We also wish you well with the ‘Settling down’ tour, before you really do settle down!

Well that’s it for this month.

Wishing you a very happy, sunny, and relaxing June – let’s hope it’s a flaming one! 🔥

If you have any recommendations for books, TV, films, or product ideas do let us know.

We are also always on the lookout for new products to go inside our gift hampers. If you want to recommend a British business with an eco-conscious, vegan-friendly sustainable ethos, we’d love to hear from you!

See you next Month
